National Level School Laboratory Management Training
 
 

We recently have organized another national level Laboratory Management Training for Junior High and High School Teachers and Laboratory Staffs. This workshop has been held on Saturday, March 9, 2012. Lead speker of the workshop was Dr. Yunita, M.Pd. (Lecturer at UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung and Trainer for Junior High Chemistry Olympiad).

32 people participated at this workshop. They came from many provinces, such as: WEST JAVA, BANTEN, DKI JAKARTA, CENTRAL JAVA, EAST JAVA and BANGKA BELITUNG. They were education practitioners and observers from:

  1. Sukabumi Regency (SMK Negeri 1 Cibadak)
  2. Bandung City (SMAK Kalam Kudus, Program Studi Biologi Universitas Pasundan)
  3. Bandung Regency (SMP Negeri 4 Rancaekek, SMK Yadika 2 Cijagra)
  4. West Bandung Regency (SMK Negeri 4 Padalarang)
  5. Serang City (SMA Negeri 4 Serang)
  6. Indramayu Regency (SMP Negeri 1 Kandanghaur)
  7. Cirebon Regency (SMA Negeri 9 Cirebon)
  8. DKI Jakarta (The Woodlands Montessori Primary School, SMA Negeri 115 Jakarta, SMPK IPEKA Sunter; SMP Said Naum Jakarta, PT. Penerbit Erlangga)
  9. Indramayu Regency (MA YPMI Wanayasa)
  10. Magelang Regency (SMA Negeri 3 Magelang)
  11. Malang Regency (SMA Negeri 8 Malang)
  12. Bogor City (SMA Sampoerna, Sekolah Pelita Harapan International Sentul City)
  13. Belitung Regency (SMA Negeri 2 Tanjungpandan)
  14. Tangerang City (Bina Nusantara International School Serpong)

This workshop trained participants so that they have good skills in managing Physics, Biology and Chemistry laboratories in their schools, able to manage laboratory tools and supplies, and can use Natural Studies laboratory equipments (Physics, Biology and Chemistry) correctly.

Along with theories, in the workshop participants also worked on some laboratory practices so that they can have direct training through real life experience (hands-on experience). The practices that they worked on were basic techniques in using chemistry tools, electrolysis testing, power supply testing using rheostat, iron core testing on transformer model, the use of four-arm balance, calipers, basic meter and multimeter, the use and maintenance of microscope, introduction to digital microscope and respirometer practice.

As usual this Laboratory Management Training uses a one day training format and individual tasks that have to be completed by the participants in order to meet the 2 x 8 hours training quota.
